The Tung Jung Association of NZ Inc (Established in 1926)

My Wellington trip in October 2020 was to visit the three local Chinese clan associations exclusively. Due to the tight busy schedules, improvisation was the key strategy for the photo sessions.

At the outset, the overseas Chinese clan association was an anchoring hub for sojourners, now is the emotional roots of the permanent settlers to cling on.

The atmosphere of The Tung Jung Association is slightly different from the others. It has filled with cultural artefacts, accumulated in time, cherishing the identity of its members. The display of artefacts resembles tree roots and adapts to the environment and expanding outward in all directions naturally without knowing the destination. I have applied the trendy selfie style to the group portrait illuminating the perseverance and dynamic of the ever-stretching emotional roots.

When photographing the still life, I created a low-key atmosphere to accentuate the sparkling Association's badge to illuminate the glory of the Association as the emotional roots of its members.

二零二零年十月，我专诚去威灵顿拜访当地三个华人宗亲会。由于行程紧迫，无暇细想，即兴是今次拍摄的主要策略。

设于外地的中国宗亲会，原是旅居游子们浮游他方的聚脚点，现在已是扎根的异乡人情感归处，根之所在。

东增会馆的气氛与其他会馆稍有不同，摆设充满著文化积聚的痕迹；犹如树根，适应环境而不断伸展，不知前方境况，但永不停步。我用时下流行‘自拍’手法拍摄集体照，影照出顽强而活力满盈的根。

拍摄会章时我营造低调气氛，冀求宗亲会作为会员情感之根而显现光辉。
